On-site/ Online Training

Training in sustainability, energy efficiency, and building quality and performance is a special focus of TDG. We present concepts in examples and case studies to let participants quickly apply new knowledge to real situations. We encourage people to change their decision processes to improve energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Web-Based Training

TDG is continuously developing www.EcoAdvisor.com, a series of multimedia modules for commercial buildings.

EcoAdvisor is intended for:

• Building owners and managers
• Architects and engineers
• Building occupants
• Building operators and facility managers

The first module was available on CD, but has been converted for use on the web. All subsequent modules have been developed to be available online.

CD-Based Training

For flexibility, TDG also provides the option of accessing the multimedia training locally via CD. We have developed and packaged the CD "HVAC Energy Primer." This CD contains four hours of course content on HVAC fundamentals.

On-Site Workshops

TDG services include workshop design, organization and delivery, computer-assisted instruction. We have designed and delivered workshops for architects, engineers, building-owners, suppliers and policy-makers. TDG has prepared and delivered workshops attended by over 4,000 participants.

TDG participated with several building industry experts to prepare and present a one-day workshop being presented to managers and staff of all 11 GSA regions. A final workshop was presented to a large audience in Washington DC.

The intent of the workshop was to provide information on how to improve the quality and performance of GSA buildings in order to improve customer satisfaction.

TDG prepared and presented three topics: (1) Integrated building design and operations, (2) Integrated design of interiors, and (3) Quality Assurance (Commissioning).

• Green Building Conference, Hyderabad, India. Delivered a presentation on the US green building experience. 2002.

• ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-2001 Workshops - In 2001, TDG led a three-firm team that developed the course content for a two-day workshop on how to comply with the latest version of this important energy efficiency standard. TDG also participated in presenting:

  • two workshops in 2002 in Atlantic City and Orlando.

  • three workshops in Texas in 2003 in Houston, Dallas, and Austin. .

• Egypt Energy Code A/E Workshops: TDG prepared content  for a two-day workshops for architects & engineers. For UNDP and the Egyptian Housing and Building Research Center (2004).

• Vietnam Commercial Building Energy Code Public Workshop: TDG presented at two 1-day public workshops in Hanoi and HCMC on the new Vietnamese Energy Efficiency Building Code. For SIDA, the World Bank and the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry (2003).  

• Egypt Residential Energy Code Public Workshop: TDG presented at the 1-day public workshop in Cairo on the new Egyptian Residential Energy Efficiency Code. For UNDP and the Egyptian Housing and Building Research Center (2003).  

• Jamaica Energy Code Workshops: Organized workshops, prepared content, and trained Jamaican trainers during for three two-day workshops for architects & engineers, and one two-day workshop with "hands-on" computer use. For Jamaica Bureau of Standards & the World Bank (1992 and 1997).

• ASHRAE Energy Standard 90.1P Workshop - Minnesota: Designed and delivered two day workshop on ASHRAE Standard 90.1P. For MS-AIA & ASHRAE Chapters. (1988).

• Standard 90.1 P Workshop -Alaska ASHRAE Chapter: Prepared and presented a one day workshop on new energy standards in Anchorage, AK (1987).

• Massachusetts Energy Code Revisions: Two workshops on proposed state energy code. For State Energy Office (1987).

• Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Workshop - ASHRAE Energy Std 90-A80: one day workshop for TVA staff (1987).
