DrawEzPlus - An EnergyPlus 3-D Rendering Tool

To Download DrawEzPlus 1.1, click on DrawEzPlus.zip.

The thumbnails at the right show key current features, including filtering building objects and two drawing modes. To view larger versions, click on the small images.

All Surfaces, Line+Fill Mode

DrawEzPlus is a 3-D rendering tool that reads the geometry data in an EnergyPlus input file and uses a set of OpenGL commands to render the building objects. Two key steps are involved. First, the E+ input file is parsed and all vertices data is extracted into a temporary file, organized by type of building object. Second, the temporary file is processed by a set of OpenGL utilities that produce renderings of the 3-D data.
All Surfaces, Line Mode Only

DrawEzPlus 1.1 will produce renderings in either orthogonal view (parallel lines do not converge) or in perspective view.  Version 1.1 allows the user to:

  • Toggle between orthogonal and perspective views.
  • Toggle between line and surface (fill) presentation modes.
  • Select to draw any mix of key building objects, such as floor, walls, roof, windows, and attached and detached shading.

Without Walls

The user can access the DrawEzPlus Control Panel from the menu bar by clicking View > Draw E+ Control Panel. Buildings are presented first in orthogonal view. In surface (fill) presentation mode, hidden lines are automatically removed.
Floor & Roof Only
Plans for Version 1.2 include a permanent control panel at the left side of the DrawEzPlus window, much like the menu structure in EzPlus-Parm itself.
 Walls Only
