Professional Association Activities Joseph Deringer, President of TDG, is active in several professional associations, especially in the development of standards and guidelines for building performance, sustainability, and energy efficiency. His recently activities are summarized below for the following activities:

|
ASHRAE Standard 90.1 Joseph Deringer has participated in the ASHRAE 90.1 Standing Special Project Committee (SSPC 90.1) for about 15 years over two different periods. He was a key participant in the process that produced the 90-1-1989 version, and he chaired the 90.1 envelope sub-committee from 1985-1990. He has served on the committee a 2nd time since 2000, and has chaired the envelope sub-committee a 2nd time from 2001-2004. He is currently a member of both the full SSPC 90.1 committee as well as its envelope sub-committee.

ASHRAE Standard 55 This ASHRAE Standing Standard Project Committee (SSPC) develops and refines an international standard that defines procedures and criteria for determining thermal comfort conditions in buildings. Joseph Deringer has served as a voting member of this committee since 1999. A major new version of the standard - ASHRAE Standard 55-2005 - was published early in 2005. Advanced Energy Design Guide (AEDG) for Small Office Buildings - AIA / ASHRAE / IESNA / NBI In 2003-2004 four associations --
AIA,
IESNA,
ASHRAE and NBI -- collaborated to produce an Advanced Energy Design
Guideline (AEDG) for small office buildings. The AIA asked Joseph Deringer
to serve as one of three AIA volunteer members on the technical committee
for this special project. |

|
NIBS Commissioning Guideline for Building Exterior Enclosures (Cx EE) In 2004-2005, Joseph Deringer chaired this National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) committee of over 20 experts to produce a commissioning guideline for building exterior enclosure.
