We are always looking for talented engineers, analysts, programmers and interactive graphic artists with demonstrated interest and skills in sustainable building design and energy efficiency. Currently, we have openings for a part-time Office Manager and part-time Programmers.

Part-time Office Manager

The Office Manager will be responsible for:

  • invoicing clients and office sublessors

  • internal quality assurance of reports and grant proposals

  • routine work on ongoing projects, including software testing and documentation

  • arranging schedules and meetings

  • basic website maintenance and content development

  • some company purchasing

  • some bill-paying

  • new employee recruitment

Possible responsibilities depending on background, experience, and interest may include:

  • business process improvement

  • management of strategic marketing programs

  • business and marketing plan development

  • expansion of new product ideas

Our ideal candidate has the following skills, experience and personality:

  • 6 mo. or more of experience in office administration

  • strong attention to detail

  • works well with minimal supervision

  • Excel, Word, DreamWeaver, and Adobe Acrobat

  • HTML and Photoshop experience are a plus

  • high level of comfort with Internet searching

  • proactive, positive, approachable attitude

  • interest in energy efficiency, green business operations, engineering, architecture, or policy development is a plus

Hours are somewhat flexible, with an expectation of 10 to 20 hours per week. Contract employment is always an option. 

Starting Salary: Varies depending on knowledge and skills.

 

Part-time Programmers

We have ongoing software projects that develop web-based, graphically intensive interactive multimedia for building design and operations. Projects focus on Heating, Ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment for buildings.

One example project focuses on computer-based education. It develops a series of goal-oriented, problem solving case study exercises intended for use within community college technical curricula. This first project involves interfacing with state-of-the-art simulation tools at LBNL (Spark, EnergyPlus). Qualifications for this position include:

  • Knowledge of engineering, and HVAC systems in buildings in particular, is key.

  •  Interest in multimedia training as well as energy-efficient and sustainable building design is also valuable.

Another example project focuses on visualization components within building performance monitoring systems for HVAC. Qualifications for this position include:

  • Knowledge of engineering, and HVAC systems in buildings in particular, is key.

  • Solid, demonstrated experience using Flash in a data-base driven context is essential. Experience with SQL and XML is highly desirable.

  • Experience with such tools as MySQL, PHP, ASP, C++, C++.net, C#.net etc. is desirable.

Interest in multimedia training as well as energy-efficient and sustainable building design is also valuable.
